7 months

So 6 months was like whooah we are leaving itty bitty baby land and entering big boy territory.
7 months?
7 months is like we are IN big boy territory.  Officially.

This month has been full of changes!!!  YOU are becoming a little boy!  You are playing and enjoying toys more and more!, eating!, moving!, responding more!, 2 teeth!!!, making noises!...and the list goes on and on!  We have had a fun month-full of traveling and many firsts...I love learning every day more about who you are and who you are becoming.  I am so proud of you.

You have the sweetest little personality.  SUCH A TENDER HEART.  You still don't like loud surprising noises or screaming-you have the BEST most HEARTBREAKING cry.  Your mouth opens REAL wide and your nostrils turn into perfect circles.  This could be the saddest yet cutest thing ever.

You started fruits and veggies and have loved them all!!!  It is amazing at how you chunked up as soon as we started foods!
so far you have eaten:
-avacado
-pears
-carrots
-apples
-green beans
-sweet potato

You love to walk while we hold your hands.

All of the sudden your hands are doing new things!!!
-You have started "praying."  You clasp your hands together (like you are praying) and move your arms up and down.
-You have also started hitting yourself.  You woke me up one morning by hitting yourself in the head.
-You clap your hands!
-You "pat." (MY FAVORITE...so so precious...especially when you are nursing)

You have cut 2 teeth!  About a week after you turned 6 months, we began seeing your bottom left tooth in the center.  The right center caught up pretty quick and you now have both bottom teeth sticking out! Sooo cute!   Along with these cute teeth have come the occasional bite while nursing, followed by the saddest cry when told "NO SIR" with a (small) thump.  Ooooo I don't look forward to the discipline road!

I think we were almost convinced you weren't going to be a crawler and would eventually just walk one day.  WELL...i think we were wrong.  You are definitely showing more signs of crawling.  You are scooting around and even doing a small "inch-worm."  I am amazed at the new things you do every day.  How do you learn this stuff?!

You have started saying your M's.  Ma ma ma ma ma!!!!  I can't wait until you give me that name!

You "blow raspberries" like crazy!

Still size 3 diapers.
While we were in Tulsa you were big time constipated.  We tried/did all the tricks.  FINALLY, after almost a week, you pooped!  So thankful.

You LOVE to watch cars go by.  LOVE IT.

I discovered you DO NOT have a birth mark in your belly button.
Explanation? Please?
Okay, from day one I have thought (along with others!)  that you had a birth mark in your belly button.  Your belly button has always been "darker."  So for SEVEN MONTHS, you have had a birth mark.
OH MY GOODNESS IT IS NOT A BIRTH MARK!   just some dirt and dried blood from going through the birth process, seven months ago, its really not a big deal. really.
good news though.  Your belly button is now the cleanest in the land.

I love you Oak Jackson.  You are my most favorite 7 month old in the entire world.

Easter.

We spent Easter weekend in Oklahoma City.
Pops took us to the zoo on Friday.

You loved the carousel.

We met the Bennett Fam for a movie that night and (POPs!) couldn't pass up a pic with the easter bunny!

Brooks = not so much into the big stuffed animal thing

On Saturday we went to Norman for the Hartsock's Easter egg hunt.
 It was SO SO cold!
I waited until the last minute, but finally gave in and took your oh-so-cute-easter-egg-hunting-cuteness-jon-jon off.
But I'll have to say you looked mighty cute in your green stripes.
 OKLAHOMA/TEXAS weather is SOOOOO WEIRD!!!

Note to self:  the older kids saying CHHHEESSSE during pictures, is very scary to Oak and Sam.

So I've never loved ties...BUT...I think you guys are on to something here...
Could there be two cuter guys on Easter morning?
Didn't think so.

Happy first Easter Oak Jack.

He is alive...and I can't wait for you to understand what that means.
There is nothing greater than knowing that peace.

six months.

Six months means HALF OF ONE YEAR.
You have got to be kidding me.

Big news of the day?  You started rice cereal!
I put a spoon in your mouth today.
With rice cereal on it.
I don't know why that is so weird to me...but it is!
You are a little person now.  Not a newborn.  A person.
Who eats food.  Off an utensil.

And, you loved it!  Ate it like a champ.  (more pics to come from this...)

Okay...moving on. :)    (but I really can't get over this food milestone thing)

What are you up to at six months? Well...
-you are a sitting up machine!  not a new thing...but you are better at it everyday

-you are pushing around a little bit when you are laying down...you turn directions more than you really "go" anywhere

-you are making new sounds all the time...your favorite right now is to push your lips together and blow in and out...hard to describe...but really cute...here you are doing it today:

-we discovered you DO NOT like loud or sudden noises right now....you make the saddest yet cutest face ever and burst out into the most heart broken cry

-size 3 diapers...the past week or so you haven't been pooping as much...maybe once a day, if that

-clothes size is still always a guessing game...12-18 months is still the safest bet

-this past week you have found your thumb a lot more...i think you chew on it more than you suck...we just know those teeth are going to pop any day now

-you took your first real shower with your dad and we found out you like baths much better!

-your favorite toys are Roman, Sophie, Marsh, your critter book you can crinkle up, your "Shake It Up Baby" book, and your Taos monkey--You've started playing more with your rubber blocks and really anything we put in front of you...it's so fun to watch you explore, full of wonder

-some songs we are singing?  "Keep you safe"..."shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your oak!"..."let's change your diaper lets change it now" ooo and lots more...can't really think right now :)
-kyndall came to visit

-you love watching water...come out of the sink, in a bottle, fountains, the ocean...you love it

-you also love watching fire burn and looking at lights
-you love playing "pick-a-boo"

-we discovered you do look so handsome in your OU hat

-you LOVE watching cars drive by...you follow them until they are completely gone

-you light up when we are around dogs...you love to watch Norman, you think he is pretty funny...I might have to do a blog on this harley and oak story, too funny:

-last week daddy weighed you on our scale and you were about 20 lbs...we go for your 6 month check up in a couple days and I'm excited to know your official weight and measurements

-you sucked on your first lemon and have yet to make a SINGLE expression from the sour taste...guess you just like it!

-you got your first pair of sunglasses! aviators from grandma. and NOW you are one cool fella

And I thought I loved you six months ago!!!?
You are THE cutest, most wonderful thing I have ever seen.
I love being your mom.

We have an incredibly fun month ahead of us.
Lots of birthdays to celebrate, Easter, and fun in Tulsa...i can't wait!
